Joseph Fix, MBA, Ph.D.
Joseph brings a wealth of executive management, operational and scientific research
competencies with more than twenty-five years of experience leading and managing major
pharmaceutical companies. Joseph will serve as a key advisor within the Life Sciences
strategic alliance practice. Joseph's experience and ability to develop and deliver
winning business strategies in the pharmaceutical industry culminate from his leadership
responsibilities while serving as President and Chief Operating Officer at Cydex,
Executive Vice President of Global R&D and Chief Operating Officer at Elan Pharmaceutical's
NanoSystems division, President & Chief Technology Officer and Board of Directors at
Yamanouchi Pharma Technology, and various senior executive and research roles at Alza
Corporation, and Merck & Co. He is also currently on the Board of Directors of Crititech,
a supercritical fluid technology company.
Joseph earned his Ph.D. in Neurophysiology at the University of Kansas, and a Master of
Business Management from Pepperdine University's Graziadio School of Business. He has
authored more than 70 manuscripts published in peer-reviewed journals, holds 20 US Patents
in drug delivery, is a Board Member for the Controlled Release Society, and serves on the
Editorial Board for Drug Delivery Technology. He has also held adjunct faculty positions
for over 20 years with several leading universities including the University of Kansas,
Purdue University, and the University of Southern California.
